About Us
Welcome to Saving Furry Friends blog. My name is Caroline Watembach, and I am the founder of Saving Furry Friends Rescue. Opening this rescue has been a long time goal of mine. Never apathetic to the plight of animals and having a deep emotional connection to them I have have always wanted to do more for them. In 2005, I was fortunate enough to purchase a little over four acres in the mountains of southwest Virginia. Here you can find animals once waiting in shelters for their demise, now instead, playing in our creek, lounging on furniture, playing in the play yard with other dogs or squeaky toys while awaiting their new adoptive families. This little piece of land enables us to care for many animals in need at any given time. We are also fortunate enough to have several foster homes who care for animals in need at their home when we are full to capacity. It is our goal to end the euthanasia of animals in southwest Virginia simply because there are not enough homes. Thru informing the public about the importance of spaying/neutering and assisting with funds for spay and neuters we hope to see the day where no animal is euthanized simpley because there is place for it to go. In our eyes there simpley is no such thing as an unwanted animal. We want to help them all, the blind, the deaf, the aged, the young and the lame. If you like what we do here why not contact us about fostering an animal in need?

MEET OUR BOARD MEMBERS & VOLUNTEERS

I’m Punkie I’m a board member and volunteer with Saving Furry Friends. I’ve been around animals all my life. I grew up on a farm back in the sticks and love the country life. Loving the finer things in life, I have what’s called champagne dreams & a beer budget. But I work hard doing what I love. Being an office manager for a construction company I work with computers and people all day. When I come home all I want is to be greeted by my kids who shower me with kisses and knock me over with love. See that’s the best part of working with a rescue group, you get to show love & compassion to furbabies who may have never seen that or felt that before. I’ve only been with SFF for a little over a year now and I feel like I’ve been doing this my entire life (which I’ve taken in a few strays but nothing compared to SFF). I love working with Caroline & her family. They have become part of my two legged family.
